A new quilt! This is "On a Hot Desert Highway". Nothing says desert heat more than the sight of a long, straight highway leading to heatwave-induced mirages ahead. I used "distressed" raw-edge applique on a graphical take on a highway. I slashed between the quilting lines to expose the fabric underneath. I attached quilted rectangles on the sides to suggest the shimmering landscape. I used glass seed beads for the sparse and bare vegetation. This is 24 inches x 43 inches.
